Funeral Services for Pioneer Will Be Held Here Next Sunday

George Frankin Duren, 76, pioneer resident of this community, passed away yesterday morning at 10:40 o'clock at St. Luke's Hospital at JAcksonville,.

Mr. Duren was taken to the Jacksonville institution June 16th for an operation for removal of an eye cataract. The operation was performed a few days later and was declared successful. Two strokes followed, which caused his death. With him at the time were all of the members of his family.

Funeral services will be held next Sunday afternoon from the Koon Funeral Home here, at four o'clock and burial will be at the La Grange Cemetery.

Rev. Carl O. Dobbins, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church here, of which the deceased was an elder for many years, will have charge of the service. Members of Indian River Lodge No. 90, F. and A. M. of this city of which Mr. Duren was a member, will have charge of services at the grave.

Mr. Duren is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Ira Nobles, and one son, George Foy Duren all of this city. He also leaves a half-sister, Mrs. Jeffie Morgan of Willborn, Fla.

The deceased was born April 10th, 1859 at Gainesville, Fla. where he spent his youth. He lived about two years at Enterprise Junction and came to Titusville about 1885 where he opened a meat market just after the construction of the first railroad into this city. He was in partnership with his brother-in-law, Arthur Feaster.

Mr. Duren engaged in the retail meat business here for about forty years, selling in 1923 to C. H. Bethea.

He owned considerable property in Titusville as well as extensive orange grove property north of this city.

Mr. Duren was highly respected for his fine Christian character by all who knew him.
