BurialDeath Certificate
Shared note

Death Certificate and obituary say he was buried in Heath Springs. Preston was most likely buried in either the small cemetery just south of the Rich Hill Crossing where his son is buried, or in the Rich Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. A third possibility is the Hammond Cemetery.

Birth date from Pension application from 1919 for service in the 5th SC Reserves in 1864 and 1865.

Parents given on death certificate as Byrum Blackmon and Betsy Reeves.

Dies at Infirmary Preston B. Blackmon, Confederate Veteran of Heath Springs. Preston B. Blackmon, 77 years of age, died at the Confederate infirmary in Columbia early yesterday morning. Mr. Blackmon, originally from the Heath Springs section, had been in the Confederate home since June 12. Although his stay at the home was short in that brief while he had endeared himself to officers as well as inmates of the home. In the Confederate war Mr. Blackmon was a member of Comapny E, Fifth South Carolina reserves. He is survived by several children, all of the Heath Springs section. The body will this morning be taken to Heath Springs, where funeral services and interment will be held.

The Lancaster News, 16 June 1914 -Married, June 12th 1914, Mr. Preston B. Blackmon to Mrs. Catherine Stogner, both of Cane Creek township, Lancaster county, by I. G. (?Corn), magistrate.
