Mrs. Sara Reeves Dabney, 97, formerly of the Elgin Community, Lancaster, died Monday, June 3, 2002, in Anderson.

Born in Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late James Jefferson and Sara Jean Baker Reeves and was the widow of Lucian Alexander Dabney. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, was an elementary school teacher for 39 years and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dabney is survived by one son, L. Reeves Dabney of Fair Play; one daughter, Mrs. Sara Barbara Jones of North Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Tracy Nickles of Greenville and Laura McGrady of Charleston; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Nickles, Wilson Nickles, and Laura Coleman Nickles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday morning from First Baptist Church, by the Rev. Rob O'Neal and the Rev. Roy Barnes. Interment will be in Westside Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Mahaffey Funeral Home from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
