**Conventions:** see [1.md](1.md). `ads` = "at the suit of"; `Do` = ditto.

**Handwriting note:** the clerk's capital **P** and **B** look alike (see page 3). All defendants on this page are P names.

## Notes

- **56 — possible answer for page 1, roll 483:** the plaintiff here is written like "Benjamin Pinchaw" or "Pincham." It uses the same letter shapes as the uncertain "Benj^n B…" on page 1, roll 483 (Francis Adams ads). Because the clerk's B and P look alike, the name may be **Pincham**, **Bincham** or **Pinchback**. The reviewer should compare the two entries.
- **55 / 213:** the first name "Gayden" is clear. The surname is written "Pettus" (55) and "Petty" (213); they are probably the same man.
- **54:** the plaintiff's first name is unclear and could be *Soderic* or *Roderic*.
- **125:** the plaintiff is unclear and could be *Cureton* or *Caston*.
- **129:** the plaintiff is unclear; it may be a commissioner.
- **493:** the plaintiff could also be *McGarah* (compare page 72, "McGarah, Martha").
- **507:** **Gustavus Rape**, written clearly. This confirms the readings on pages 3 and 5.
- **508:** "James Holliman." Compare John Holliman on page 46.
- **510:** the plaintiff could also be *William Reeves* or *Reese*. **Reeves is a family name of interest to this research**, so this entry is worth checking against the original.
